The southern book club’s guide to slaying vampires – A review 5🌟

A fast-paced horror surrounding 5 southern wives who participate in a monthly book club. The books surround themes of unsolved murders and true crime stories. Their lives are all mundane, housework, childcare, carpool, etc. Until James Harris walks into their lives.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I love the women in this novel. Each one was distinctly different from the next. Patricia holds a special place in my heart. One criticism I found for this novel was the representation of women to be “sexist.” However, I found this to not be the case. I found it to be realistic of the time period of the late 1980 and early 1990s. Around that time period, women were still very heavily associated with family life.

I love Grady Hendrix’s writing style. It was easy to digest but also able to create vivid imagery and atmosphere throughout the story. Cannot wait to read more novels by Hendrix in the future.

There are also themes of domestic violence and SA in this novel, just a trigger warning.
